Maximum Mauritius!

Another Huge Double Event!
6 – 15th September
Bel Ombre, Mauritius

One of the most picture-perfect kiting destinations on the planet. Mauritius has countless world class waves and this year the tour heads to Bel Ombre, home to yet another epic left-hander with a huge flat water lagoon for freestyle.

The first GKA Kite-Surf World Tour event in Mauritius happened in 2016. That first year, Airton Cozzolino’s unexpected loss to local rider Jeremy Chan left room for Matchu Lopes to make a push and win the event before stealing a tour win from under his friend’s nose at the next (and final) event in Dakhla.

In 2017, Airton was denied a clean sweep on the way to his GKA World Title as well when he was knocked out in the semi-finals by Sebastian Ribeiro before Keahi de Aboitiz went on to take the win.

The GKA Kite World Tour didn’t visit Mauritius in 2018, so it’s going to be epic when the tour hits Bel Ombre this year!

This will also be the first time that the GKA Freestylers have competed in Mauritius and what an experience it will be on the lagoon in Bel Ombre.

After 3 events this year, the Kite-Surf standings see Airton Cozzolino and Carla Herrera-Oria leading the way.

The freestylers have completed four events this year, resulting in Swiss young bloods Maxime Chabloz and women’s reigning champion, 14 year-old Mikaili Sol holding narrow advantages at the top.
