We’re counting down the days until our next events in Brazil, so far we’re in the clear and travel plans for the team and athletes are all going smoothly.

We will be in the metropolis that is Fortaleza for our first event. Fortaleza is mostly known as the business capital of the north, a vast city with a population of roughly 3 million people. The highrise buildings reach all the way down to Beira Mar, the ocean front, where luxury apartment blocks and hotels back on to the wide, palm lined, promenade and calm blue waters.

It wasn’t until the explosion of Hydrofoiling that Fortaleza became known as a kite or wingsurfing destination. Previously overlooked due to the lighter winds than the rest of the Cearence coastline, the advancement of foil kites, hydrofoil boards and wings has seen this spot explode into an urban Mecca for the sport.

The Superfoil Fortaleza is set to be an exciting event, the first of its kind in the city and Brazil. The judges at the GKA are looking forward to seeing what moves the athletes will bring to the competition, its open water in that area as this is the first event of its kind! Registration is now open and can be found here.

The second event on the calendar is the Superkite Ilha do Guajiru, a location that will seem otherworldly after our inner city event. The tranquil village of Ilha do Guajiru is located on a tidal lagoon with kite schools and hotels nestled amongst the palm trees. The village saw a growth spurt after it was discovered by kitesurfers and  The strong wind and sand bar protected waters make this the perfect destination for a freestyle event.

After an unpredictable year we couldn’t think of a better place to be ending the season, and with a Superkite event too! Registration for the event is now open and can be found here.
